Hii, beloved 😇.
Let me ask you a question. What prompted your journey with God. I mean, the deep and intimate relationship you have with God now, who or what brought you to Him?
You know, for some of us, it was our parents (God bless them for us), for some it was a particular challenge they needed a solution to (remember those times you run to God for money, admission etc),
For some people they had divine encounters, (like Jesus appeared to them literally) and for others it was a program they attended etc.
All of these are ways through which God draws us to himself, and the way through which you drew closer to God is not really the important thing, but the fact that you drew closer.
But my own answer to the above question is the topic of my discussion today.
I drew close to God because I wanted Him to talk to me.
In school, 200L to be precise, I was attending church as a regular girl and blending with church folks and I used to hear them say occasionally, “God said this to me”, God spoke that to me” etc.
I didn’t even take it seriously until a particular time. I went for missions and joined the intercessory unit for that missions.
So while we prayed, literally everyone in the prayer meeting had something to say that God shared with them, except me.
It was that day that I said “ahh, me sef must hear God o. I can’t be left out of this”.
That was how my serious relationship with God started. I wanted God to be speaking to me too.

I don’t know if you’ve ever felt this way or thought about it, but the thought that the Almighty God, I mean the God of the universe, creator of heaven and earth, who knows all things, can talk specifically to me and I will hear and understand, thrilled me so much that I could not wait to start hearing.
So I decided to get serious with God and I took my devotion and relationship with Him more seriously, but as if God knew my intent, after some time I still was not hearing anything.
I was beginning to doubt and felt like, is this thing even real? At one point I thought I offended God or that I was a witch or something because I wasn’t hearing anything and folks in church still share testimonies of how God spoke to them at one point or another.

But I continued in faith and to the glory of God now, if the spirit of God is communicating to me, I can hear Him well. Gloryyyyy!!!
What’s the point of my story today?
Hearing from God is a crucial part of our relationship with God as His Children. God delights in communicating to His children.
I read somewhere that God longs to have a relationship with you much more than you want to have with him, and I have translated that to mean God wants to speak with you much more than your desire to hear him speak.
There is no satisfaction in a relationship with God where you cannot hear him communicate to you or lead you. And He does this in different ways.
If you are a child of God and you’ve not experienced him talk to you. Desire to have him speak to you, and he’ll do so. You’re His beloved child, so why not.
Continue to fellowship with Him in prayer, in the word, in gathering of believers, and even importantly as you go about your daily activities, keep an open mind with the Holy Spirit.
Although it takes a bit of time for you to train your spirit to listen to God, and you also have to master the specific ways He communicates to you.
But the truth remains that, He speaks. Jeremiah 33:3 confirms this;
”Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.”
Acts 13:2, John 16:13 also confirms that fact that God longs to communicate to His children.
In my next blog post, I’ll talk more about this in detail and the various ways God s speaks to His Children.
Till then, keep enjoying fellowshipping with God.
