Heyy, beloved 🤗🤗
You’re heartily welcome to another episode of journeying in faith. In my last blog post, I shared about prayers and the importance of praying. If you’ve not read it, read it here.
And if you’ve read it, have you been praying and how has it been? Are there still challenges? Whatever the case is, God’s gat you.
So I got to understand that the previous post shouldn’t end like that and that’s why in this blog post, I decided to share practical tips that you can put to use to have a consistent prayer life. Keep reading and find out what they are.
The first is understanding, because for me, it is actually knowing the importance of prayer that keeps me following through much more than any other tips.
Because the truth is, there are times that you may falter, but when you remember what is at stake, you will immediately get back to your duty post as a priest of the most high God.
Then the next I’ll say is, don’t see prayer and study as a ritual or a tick off your to-do list. That is the reason why it may seem difficult for some of us sometimes. See it as a period to discuss with God, it does not have to follow a particular routine all the time.
You can start with praises, meditations, Bible reading or just talking to him about how you feel. Be open-hearted with it and enjoy it, because you’re spending time with God.

The next is that I’ll give is to choose a “good” time and a “good” place, the good being in quotes doesn’t mean there’s a bad time or place for praying. Rather, choose a time that will work.
Someone who gets back late from work tired every time should not choose a night time when he will doze off. And for someone who knows the only time to do it is in the mornings should actually fix a particular time for it in that morning.
And from personal experience, your bed is a no no, ❌, you’ll doze off 99.9% of the time. So, being on your feet is better.
In all there is no specific time or place for everybody, just choose a good time and place, like I said, that will work for you.
If you’ve settled all the above, then the next is to start and you can start small. it doesn’t have to be long. Start with maybe 10 or 15 minutes. And as you become consistent, you can increase it.
Also, if you miss some days, don’t beat yourself up too much, find a way to come back in track.
What makes us inconsistent with prayer is also because we are looking for a perfect time and a perfect situation. But you don’t have to wait for that, especially if you have a tight schedule.
Pray on the move as you go about your daily activities. Put 1thessalonians 5:17 into practice (Pray without ceasing). But doing this effectively requires intentionality and focus because it is very easy to be distracted while at it.

And lastly, having an accountability partner also helps to be consistent. After you’ve chosen your “good” time, inform someone, it could be a friend, or relative, who will hold you accountable to that time.
Note that discipline and commitment is also required to have a consistent prayer life because it’s not all the time you’ll feel like praying.
I really hope you find this useful and that you’ll put them to work, or what’s the essence of knowing without applying?
Remember, God loves you and He longs to speak with you and also hear you speak to Him if only you’ll make time for Him.

Thanks for edifying post
